(March 20, 2011) Jehovah, the God of the people of the Book, declares through His prophet Isaiah: "1 The oracle concerning Egypt: Behold, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt; The idols of Egypt will tremble at His presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them...23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrians will come into Egypt and the Egyptians into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. 24 In that day Israel will be the third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, 25 whom the LORD of hosts has blessed, saying, "Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance." (Isaiah 19:1-4,18-25) This prophecy is speaking of the End-Times when the Antichrist ("a cruel master, and a mighty king will rule over them") comes to power and subjugates Egypt under his oppressive reign. However, God will send them a Savior and He will deliver Egypt from the Antichrist. The Book makes it clear that this Savior is Jesus the Messiah who is called Isa in the Qur'an and whom Christian Arabs call Yasu... Related posts:

Mayan prophecy is not Biblical prophecy (nor is Nostradamus etc.)

(June 13, 2010) My last post dealt with increased solar activity and attempts by some to link it to Mayan Prophecy. There seems to be a diverse opinion on the meaning and nature of the Mayan Prophecy. The Mayans observed several calendrical cycles for their various social, agricultural, commercial and administrative endeavors and each of which had a religious element in or religious aspect to them. One of the calendars, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, is the one that pertains to the Mayan Prophecy. This Long Count calendar constitutes a period of time consisting of 5125 years. The current Great Cycle of the Long Count will conclude on December 21, 2012. What happens after that seems to be open to conjecture. Beginning in the 1960s some Mayan researchers suggested that some type of apocalyptic event would occur at that time. Since then others have stated their belief that a new age of enlightenment will come upon mankind and the earth. Some believe that there will be some form of Milky Way galactic alignment on the Winter solstice (December 21) of 2012. As I pointed out in my last post, Hollywood has taken the Armageddon approach to 2012 and this is the idea which seems to have taken root in popular American culture. Therefore, I am interested in seeing how the months and weeks leading up to December 21, 2012 play out. The media hype may surpass that which occurred prior to the Y2k scare of 1999. I have read that modern-day Mayans themselves attach no import to the Mayan Prophecy. I believe they have the correct approach to this "event". From a Christian perspective I think it is possible that on December 22, 2012 people will use the failure of the falsely perceived Mayan prophecy to disparage Biblical End-Times prophecy. Last week, a flotilla of six ships apparently carrying a cargo of humanitarian aid to the people living in the Gaza Strip expressed their (political) intention to run an Israeli blockade off the coast of Gaza. The following video shows what happened when Israeli commandos boarded one of the ships: In the immediate aftermath, world condemnation of Israel followed (Gaza flotilla attack: world unites in condemnation of Israel's actions). Politics, Israel, and “declaring the end from the beginning”

(May 31, 2010) I started writing a draft of this post more than a week ago. The subject is the importance (or lack thereof) of contemporary news events in relation to God's overall prophetic plan for the world. Earlier today a still developing story occurred when Israeli forces boarded a supposed peace activist Gaza aid ship before it reached the shores of the Gaza Strip and injuries and deaths were incurred by the combatants. Before addressing that issue I want to say that the idea for this post occurred to me after reading a blog article on the liberal Christian website maintained by the Sojourners organization. The majority (if not all) the posts on their God's Politics blog are sympathetic to the Palestinians' cause at the expense of the Israelis as the following linked article demonstrates: Christian Zionism: Theology that Legitimates Oppression God has a global, eternal plan for the world and the universe, "9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure." (Isaiah 46:9-10) God is also interested in every individual soul and has a plan for every human being but that too is part of His universal plan as the apoatle Paul wrote, "3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (I Timothy 2:3-6) Contemporary politics of any era have little meaning except as to how they play a role in God's overall plan. Israel is part of that plan and regardless of one's worldview Israel was prophesied to be a nation before the end... Related posts:

Arab League: End of the Middle East Peace Process?

(March 27, 2010) Amr Moussa, chief of the Arab League which was formed in 1945 and now consists of twenty-two Arab nations, warned that Israel's recent settlement declarations could bring a final end to the Middle East Peace process. (Amr Moussa: We must prepare for failure of peace process) The Jerusalem Post article reports, "Amr Moussa urged an Arab leadership summit in Libya on Saturday to forge a new strategy to pressure Israel, saying the peace process could not be 'an open ended process.' 'We must prepare for the possibility that the peace process will be a complete failure,' Moussa said. 'This is the time to stand up to Israel. We must find alternative options, because the situation appears to have reached a turning point.' Speaking at the event, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said there would be no peace agreement without ending the occupation of Palestinian land, first and foremost east Jerusalem. He accused Prime Minster Binyamin Netanyahu's government of trying to create a de facto situation in Jerusalem that would torpedo any future peace settlement. Islam and End-Times Prophecy

(February 22, 2010) Is Islam going to be the one-world religion spoken of in End-Times prophecy? Is the Mahdi or Guided One (an Islamic messianic figure) the Antichrist? Is the Mark of the Beast a badge of submission to Allah? Is Jesus Christ returning to earth to wage war against the Islamic nations who treated the Jews harshly? Walid Shoebat thinks so. Walid Shoebat declares that most prophecy students are incorrect in their interpretation of many End-Times prophecies. He believes that Western cultural influences have led to a misunderstanding of the Eastern culturally written Bible. He says that he is a former Muslim terrorist born in Bethlehem who converted to Christianity after reading the Bible in order to convince his Christian wife that her beliefs were in error. He also states that he lived in Jericho during the 1967 Six Day War. He wrote a unique and quite illuminating book on End-Times prophecy titled God's War on Terror: Islam, Prophecy and the Bible. (November 1, 2009) I received the following article in an email newsletter that I subscribe to from a Jewish organization based in Jerusalem: 1) Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem by Moshe Kempinski "Ever since the Day of Atonement the Temple Mount has again become a flashpoint of contention between Israel and the world. The Muslims have raised frantic calls throughout the Islamic world for them to come and protect their mosques from the Jewish heinous attempts to make Jerusalem Jewish. The Aqsa Foundation warned of new attempts by 'extremist Jews' to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque this week to commemorate what the Jews call the 'Rambam ascent to the temple mount.' The Foundation said that it views with concern calls by extremist Jewish organizations to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque under various pretexts. These calls come according to the agency after Muslim worshipers foiled attempts in the past by 'extremist Jewish groups' to desecrate the Aqsa mosque during Jewish holidays by praying on the mount (Heaven forefend)... If it wasn't so ominous it would be humorous. The Temple Mount is the holiest location in the universe according to Jewish understanding. It was from there that the world expanded into its present form, and it was there where Hashem gathered the earth used to create man. The Torah tells us that HaShem chose to rest His Divine Presence, in that location and two Jewish Temples, called the House of G-d, were built there . According to the prophecies of the Bible, the Third Temple will also be located here, and will eventually be the eternal House of Prayer for all nations. (Isaiah 1:2-3; Ezekiel . 37:26-28; 40-48;Micah . 4:1-2; Haggai. 2:7-9;and Zechariah 6:12-15; 14:20) The world, though, and especially the Muslim world have yet to learn to digest, cope and accept that reality..." (February 22, 2008) The Jews are in the land of Israel to stay. God's plans for the End-Times revolve around the modern nation of Israel. This is why a country two and a half times the size of Rhode Island is in the world news every day. Thus, it is interesting that some Middle East leaders keep calling for the destruction of Israel or declare that Israel will cease to exist. The head of the Hizbullah terrorist organization based in Lebanon declared, "The disappearance of Israel is an inevitable fact.
