(June 3, 2010) Israel is once again in the world's spotlight. Last week, a flotilla of six ships apparently carrying a cargo of humanitarian aid to the people living in the Gaza Strip expressed their (political) intention to run an Israeli blockade off the coast of Gaza. The following video shows what happened when Israeli commandos boarded one of the ships: In the immediate aftermath, world condemnation of Israel followed (Gaza flotilla attack: world unites in condemnation of Israel's actions). The London newspaper The Guardian article reports: "Amid a flurry of diplomatic activity, Israeli ambassadors were summoned in Stockholm, Madrid, and Athens, while Spain, holding the six-month rotating presidency of the European Union, called a session of the EU's political and security committee... President Obama, like every other President, is wrong on Israel

(April 17, 2010) The New York Times reports that President Obama is initiating a "far-reaching shift in how the United States views the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and how aggressively it might push for a peace agreement." (Obama Phrase Highlights Shift on Middle East) The article states, "Mr. Obama said conflicts like the one in the Middle East ended up “costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure” — drawing an explicit link between the Israeli-Palestinian strife and the safety of American soldiers as they battle Islamic extremism and terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere." It also notes that both General Petraeus and Condoleezza Rice shared a similar position on the Middle East conflict with the Obama administration. The article does point out that Israelis themselves question the efficacy of any peace agreement with the Palestinians, "The sense of urgency in Washington comes just as many Israelis have become disillusioned with the whole idea of resolving the conflict. Mr. Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition government has long been skeptical about the benefits of a peace deal with the Palestinians. But skepticism has taken root in the Israeli public as well, particularly after Israel saw little benefit from its traumatic withdrawal from Gaza in 2005." The issue that stands out to me is that every U.S. administration looks for a political solution to solve this dilemma. The problem is that the basis for the Arab-Israeli conflict is not political but religious in nature. What is the truth about the Arab-Israeli conflict... Related posts:

(February 28, 2010) Speaking in Poland on the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu said that modern Israel fulfills the "Dry Bones" prophecy of Ezekiel ch. 37. (Netanyahu: Ezekiel 37 Fulfilled in Israel) He declared, "Armed with the Jewish spirit, the justice of man, and the vision of the prophets, we sprouted new branches and grew deep roots. Dry bones became covered with flesh, a spirit filled them, and they lived and stood on their own feet, as Ezekiel prophesied: 'Then He said to me, 'Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, 'Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!' Therefore prophesy and say to them, thus says the Lord God, 'Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves and bring you into the land of Israel. (February 22, 2010) Is Islam going to be the one-world religion spoken of in End-Times prophecy? Is the Mahdi or Guided One (an Islamic messianic figure) the Antichrist? Is the Mark of the Beast a badge of submission to Allah? Is Jesus Christ returning to earth to wage war against the Islamic nations who treated the Jews harshly? Walid Shoebat thinks so. Walid Shoebat declares that most prophecy students are incorrect in their interpretation of many End-Times prophecies. He believes that Western cultural influences have led to a misunderstanding of the Eastern culturally written Bible. He says that he is a former Muslim terrorist born in Bethlehem who converted to Christianity after reading the Bible in order to convince his Christian wife that her beliefs were in error. He also states that he lived in Jericho during the 1967 Six Day War. He wrote a unique and quite illuminating book on End-Times prophecy titled God's War on Terror: Islam, Prophecy and the Bible. (November 1, 2009) I received the following article in an email newsletter that I subscribe to from a Jewish organization based in Jerusalem: 1) Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem by Moshe Kempinski "Ever since the Day of Atonement the Temple Mount has again become a flashpoint of contention between Israel and the world. The Muslims have raised frantic calls throughout the Islamic world for them to come and protect their mosques from the Jewish heinous attempts to make Jerusalem Jewish. The Aqsa Foundation warned of new attempts by 'extremist Jews' to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque this week to commemorate what the Jews call the 'Rambam ascent to the temple mount.' The Foundation said that it views with concern calls by extremist Jewish organizations to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque under various pretexts. These calls come according to the agency after Muslim worshipers foiled attempts in the past by 'extremist Jewish groups' to desecrate the Aqsa mosque during Jewish holidays by praying on the mount (Heaven forefend)... If it wasn't so ominous it would be humorous. The Temple Mount is the holiest location in the universe according to Jewish understanding. It was from there that the world expanded into its present form, and it was there where Hashem gathered the earth used to create man. The Torah tells us that HaShem chose to rest His Divine Presence, in that location and two Jewish Temples, called the House of G-d, were built there . According to the prophecies of the Bible, the Third Temple will also be located here, and will eventually be the eternal House of Prayer for all nations. (Isaiah 1:2-3; Ezekiel . 37:26-28; 40-48;Micah . 4:1-2; Haggai. 2:7-9;and Zechariah 6:12-15; 14:20) The world, though, and especially the Muslim world have yet to learn to digest, cope and accept that reality..." (April 6, 2009 ) Today I visited a website that I had not been to in more than a year. As soon as I saw how dramatically their technology had improved I immediately thought of a prophecy in the Book of Revelation...God was showing His servant John what was going to take place in the future. In this passage John sees the third Jewish Temple standing in Jerusalem. He then sees two witnesses for God preaching near the Temple. These two witnesses have some sort of supernatural power which they use if someone tries to interfere with their prophesying. After 3 and 1/2 years the Antichrist or Satan through him is allowed to kill these two prophets of God. Their bodies are left in the street in Jerusalem. John says that the whole world will see them lying there dead. How could the whole world see them in Jerusalem?... Related posts:

(March 19, 2009) In February of 2008 I wrote an article titled: (Why is Israel in the world news every day?) For more than 1800 years there was no nation of Israel. In 1948 the modern state of Israel was born. Ever since then Israel has consistently been in the news. The reason for this is because God declares in His word, "1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. 2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it...9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." (Zechariah 12:1-3,9-10) In the last days Jerusalem will be at the center of God's End-Times plans. This would have been unthinkable over the last eighteen centuries but in 2009 it is clear that this prophecy can be fulfilled. It has been a year since I wrote that article but Israel is still front and center on the world stage... Related posts:

(April 21, 2008) Former President Jimmy Carter traveled to the Middle East in order to try to jump start peace negotiations between Israel and Hamas. According to a Jerusalem Post article, any truce (notice that Hamas isn't speaking of a peace treaty) with Israel must include Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Palestine. (US: Hamas truce offer meaningless) The article elaborates on Hamas' conditions for a truce, "Khaled Mashaal, whose group has sworn to destroy Israel, told reporters in Damascus on Monday that Hamas would accept a Palestinian state in the West Bank with Israel as its neighbor, but stressed that his group would not formally recognize it, a move immediately dismissed by the US as meaningless. 'We agree to a (Palestinian) state on pre-67 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital with genuine sovereignty without settlements, but without recognizing Israel,' Mashaal said.'We have offered a truce if Israel withdraws to the 1967 borders, a truce of 10 years as a proof of recognition.'"...
