The Election of Barack Obama as President

November 9th, 2008
President Barack Obama

(November 9, 2008) Someone recently asked me if Barack Obama would become a player in End-Times events. My overriding concern for whoever becomes President of the United States is what is God’s will for this country. The Bible makes it clear that it is God who raises up rulers and causes them to fall: “20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.” (Daniel 2:20-21) With this in mind there are two things that stand out to me about 2008 election…

2 Thessalonians 2:4 – A Literal Third Temple

July 1st, 2008

The interpretation of this scripture passage is disputed by various factions of prophecy students. The study of bible prophecy consists of three main schools of thought: Preterist, Historicist, and Futurist. Preterists essentially believe that the biblical prophecies that relate to an apocalyptic scenario were fulfilled in the First Century A.D. Historicists believe that bible prophecy has been/is being/will be fulfilled throughout history. Futurists believe that most apocalyptic prophecies will be fulfilled in the future. This site looks at prophecy from a futurist point of view.

Does this passage in Thessalonians speak of a rebuilt third Temple or was the apostle Paul referring to the Roman’s destruction of the second (i.e. Herod’s Temple) in 70 A.D.? As with all bible interpretation the answer lies in the context of the passage, original meanings of the words, and the comparison of it with other biblical passages…

(Everything seemingly is spinning out of control) They write, “Midwestern levees are bursting. Polar bears are adrift. Gas prices are skyrocketing. Home values are abysmal. Air fares, college tuition and health care border on unaffordable. Wars without end rage in Iraq, Afghanistan and against terrorism.” Their observations are not limited to the United States as they say in the article, “Recent natural disasters around the world dwarf anything afflicting the U.S. Consider that more than 69,000 people died in the China earthquake, and that 78,000 were killed and 56,000 missing from the Myanmar cyclone.” However they quote a historian as saying that the world has been through troubling times before yet survived…
